Becoming a Global Citizen

Off-campus programs are an enriching and life-changing part of the College experience. By participating in study abroad programs, students expand their knowledge and worldview, enlarge their intercultural abilities and relationships, prepare for life in the global community, and deepen their Christian commitment and service.

Early planning allows for an off-campus experience to fit most areas of study, and nearly half of Houghton’s students choose to study abroad, whether as part of a major/minor program or to fulfill general education requirements.

Left Quotation Mark

Take advantage of Houghton’s study abroad programs. While at Houghton I was able to spend semesters in London and Costa Rica. I discovered how much I loved traveling during the time I was in London, and my semester in Costa Rica sparked my interest in working in international development and helped me improve my Spanish language skills. The study abroad programs are a great opportunity to stretch yourself to grow and to explore the calling God may have for you.
